Copy trading on Hyperliquid removes custody risk only when the tool holds a trade-only key that cannot withdraw. It never removes market risk: leveraged positions can lose your whole deposit, and your result will differ from the trader's.
| Risk | What it means | What reduces it |
|---|---|---|
| Custody | Someone else can move your money. | Keep funds in an account you own and approve only a key that can place orders. On AlphaYou, withdrawals, transfers and sends are refused before they can be signed, and every movement of money needs your own signature. |
| Leverage and liquidation | A small move against a leveraged position can close it at a loss. Hyperliquid's maximum leverage runs from 3x to 40x depending on the asset. | Start the risk multiplier at 1x and set a stop-loss that closes the whole strategy. |
| The trader changes | A wallet can raise leverage, change style or lose money. | Pick on the worst dip and a long record, look again from time to time, and stop when it changes. |
| Lag, slippage and fees | On AlphaYou positions follow the trader about every 20 seconds, so you enter at other prices. Fees and the $10 minimum order change the result too. | Copy liquid markets, check the fee before you start and expect a different result from the trader's. |
| A fault in the tool | A software fault could place bad trades. | A key that cannot withdraw limits the damage to trades. A stop-loss and a small size limit it further. |
A stop-loss is an instruction, not a guaranteed price. In a fast market it can fill worse than you set. Use it to cap the plan, not as a promise.
On AlphaYou the stop-loss closes the whole strategy. Pause stops new orders while positions stay open, and stop closes the copy and begins unwinding.
It depends on the permission you approve. On AlphaYou the money stays in an Agent Account you own and the tool trades it with a key that can place and cancel orders and change leverage and margin settings. Withdrawals, transfers and sends are refused before they can be signed, and every movement of money needs your own signature.
Yes. You can lose your whole deposit on leveraged positions. A trader can change style, raise leverage or lose money, and your result will differ from theirs because of lag, slippage, fees and account size.
No. A record shows the evidence is stronger, not that future profit is likely. The worst dip tells you the deepest fall the wallet has survived so far, not the deepest it will have.
AlphaYou copy trading is offered outside the US and Ontario. Here it is research only, and nothing on this page is investment advice.
