Most Form 4 transactions must be filed within two business days. That is a reporting deadline, not a forced two-day wait; a filing can appear sooner. Measure a tracker from the public filing to delivery, separately from the time between the transaction and filing. We have not benchmarked delivery speed across these products.
Use the SEC's transaction-code definitions. P includes open-market and private purchases, S includes sales, and A covers grants or awards. Read the footnotes to establish the transaction context and check the trading-plan disclosure. Do not rank every increase in ownership as a cash purchase.
Pick one filing and match its accession number, reporting owner, transaction code, security type, share count and price. Then inspect direct or indirect ownership and the footnotes. A combined dollar total can hide an option exercise, a private purchase or several prices in one filing. Test the same source record in each tool before comparing its filters or paying for alerts.
This category has unusually good free options, which is worth saying plainly. OpenInsider is free, needs no account, and offers transaction-code filters. EDGAR is the primary source and costs nothing. Between them you can cover insider monitoring properly if your routine is checking buys a few times a week. The paid tools are selling one of two things: breadth, meaning insider filings read next to congress and fund activity, or delivery, meaning an alert that reaches you instead of a dashboard you have to remember to open. Work out which of those you are buying, because neither is worth paying for if a free table already fits your routine.
AlphaYou reads insider Form 4s next to congressional disclosures, 13F fund positions, government contract awards and tracked influencer calls in one feed, on the logic that a cluster of insider buys means more when you can see a fund building the same position. Open-market purchases are separated from grants and private transactions rather than pooled into one count. The free plan stays free rather than expiring into a trial.
Where it is a weaker fit: OpenInsider offers a free Form 4 table, and Finviz pairs its free insider table with chart and company pages. We have not measured their notification speed against AlphaYou. If insider data alone is the job, the free tools do it well and we would rather say so.

A public-filing tracker starts with a published source record. Most Form 4 transactions have a two-business-day deadline, but earlier filings can appear sooner. Alert delivery after publication is a separate interval.
No. P includes open-market and private purchases. Check the footnotes and instrument. A is an award, M an exercise or conversion, and F can cover securities used for tax or exercise-price payments.
Some dedicated tools provide free Form 4 tables. Bundled tools cost more but let you read an insider buy next to congress and 13F activity on the same stock, which is usually where the context sits.
