Unusual Whales Alternatives (2026)
Unusual Whales alternatives compared: Cheddar Flow, Quiver, Capitol Trades, OpenInsider and AlphaYou. What each covers, what it costs, and which ones do options flow.
You pay for Unusual Whales. Then you notice you only ever open the politics tab. The options flow tape, the dark pool prints, the market maker charts: you never touch them. That is a common reason people shop around, and it changes which alternative is right for you.
Direct answerPick the alternative by the part of Unusual Whales you actually use. For options flow, Cheddar Flow is the closest swap. For congress trades only, Capitol Trades is free. For insider buys only, OpenInsider is free. Quiver and AlphaYou put congress, insider and fund filings in one place. None of the filing tools do options flow, AlphaYou included.
- Unusual Whales plus 5 alternatives. Coverage and pricing were checked on each site in September 2026. Prices change often, so confirm before you pay.
- Unusual Whales does 2 different jobs. The first is options flow: a live tape of options trades as they print, plus dark pool and market maker data. The second is public filings: congress trades and insider buys. These are not the same kind of data. Options flow is live market data. Filings are legal disclosures that arrive days or weeks after the trade. If you use the flow, you need a flow tool. If you use the filings, a flow tool is the wrong thing to pay for.
- Cheddar Flow is the most direct swap. Its Standard plan covers real-time order flow and unusual volume. Pro adds dark pool orders and gamma exposure. Be honest with yourself about price, though. Unusual Whales starts at $50 a month and Cheddar Flow starts at $85, so switching for flow is about the layout you prefer, not saving money. Quiver, Capitol Trades, OpenInsider and AlphaYou do not do options flow at all.

First, Work Out Which Half You Use
Unusual Whales does 2 different jobs.
If You Need Options Flow
Cheddar Flow is the most direct swap.
If You Mostly Use the Politics Tab
Here the free tools are strong. Capitol Trades shows congress trades with no account, going back 3 years. Quiver's free plan includes live congress and insider data. OpenInsider covers insider Form 4 buys for free. One detail matters: Unusual Whales' free accounts see data 15 minutes late. That hurts options traders a lot. It barely matters for congress trades, which members can file up to 45 days after the trade. Every tool on this list reads the same public filings.
Where AlphaYou Fits
AlphaYou reads congress trades, insider Form 4s, 13F fund filings, government contracts and tracked influencer calls in one feed. New filings are pulled in the day they are published. Our own stock calls go on a public, timestamped record, so you can check the misses as well as the wins. Lite is $29 a month or $199 a year, and the free plan shows a preview of each tracker.
Where it is a weaker fit: there is no options flow, no dark pool data and no market maker charts. If those are why you opened Unusual Whales, stay there or try Cheddar Flow. We would rather say that than sell you the wrong tool. For a straight head-to-head, see our AlphaYou vs Unusual Whales page.
