A stock perp is a perpetual contract that follows a US stock's price, with no shares, votes or dividends. Copying one means mirroring a trader's position in that contract, so you take the same price bet at your own size, with leverage and hourly funding.
| Feature | The stock | The stock perp on Hyperliquid |
|---|---|---|
| What you own | Shares, votes and dividends. | A contract that follows the price. None of those. |
| Expiry | None. | None. It is perpetual. |
| Leverage | Set by your broker. | Set by Hyperliquid for each market. Each market page shows it. |
| Costs | Broker commissions. | Trading fees, plus funding paid between longs and shorts every hour. |
| Trading hours | Market hours. | The contract trades around the clock, so its price can move while the stock market is closed. |
No. A stock perp follows the stock's price. It gives no shares, votes or dividends.
Funding is a payment between longs and shorts, made every hour. It is not a fee paid to Hyperliquid, and it moves as the perpetual's price drifts from the stock it follows. Each market page shows the current rate.
Hyperliquid also lists crude oil, gold and silver contracts, and tracked wallets hold positions in them. Each has its own page with price, funding, open interest and the positions.
No. A contract gives leveraged price exposure, not shares of the company.
