Bank of America Q3 2026: $0.91 GAAP EPS, $1.08 adjusted
America
Bank of America (BAC) reported $6.9 billion of GAAP net income and $0.91 in diluted earnings per share for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026. Its October 14 release includes a $1.2 billion regulatory settlement charge.[1][2]
What the adjusted figure removes
Adjusted net income was $8.1 billion, excluding the settlement charge. This is a non-GAAP measure. The company attributes a $0.17 per-share impact to the charge.[1]
Interest income and the comparison
Net interest income rose 8% year over year to $16.4 billion on a GAAP basis. The $16.6 billion figure in the release uses a non-GAAP fully taxable-equivalent basis.[1]
For BAC research, compare earnings on the same accounting basis. Interest income improved, while the settlement reduced reported profit. Removing the charge from an adjusted measure does not erase its cost.[1]
